Tools for LinkedIn

Converter for Outlook-.csv files exported from LinkedIn

This tool eliminates email-addresses from names. In case the lastname is the email-address, the last name found in firstname will be used.
In case there is non, you will be asked to provide the correct lastname.

Linux: Download
Windows: Download

Installation instructions: install the application by double-click on it and move the Outlook-file you downloaded from LinkedIn thereI.
For windows: Start the application by double-click on the hcsv-icon on your desktop. Choose the file (normally "linkedin_connections_export_microsoft_outlook.csv") by using the Browse-button.
The field with the output-file will be automatilly filled with the same name. Modify this name. Then press Convert. You'll get a message when it is done. In case the last name can not be determined you'll be asked for it.

New feature: in case the file "plaxo_ab_outlook.csv" exists, all entries not found in this file will be converted and moved into the output file.
How to do this:
1. export your connections from LI
2. export your contacts from PLAXO
3. start the converter
4. upload the result to PLAXO
This reduces the amount of doubled entries in PLAXO.
You can make final edits to the result by using eg Excel as there are some few cases I cannot handle, eg different email-addresses in PLAXO and LI, etc

NOTE: all files MUST be in the same directory/folder.

Please drop me a note when you have downloaded it - I just want to know how many people are using it.
My email is michael at haschek dot com.

There is no fee for it, its free software. I appreciate any feedback:-)

LION database invitations extractor

This is a utility that scans the LION database against the current LI contacts.
Just persons not in the contact-list will be displayed.
The entries for each person are displayed - there are 3 options:
- Not invite: add to a list of people who should  be not on the invitee-list
- Skip: ignore the current person - similar to "Decide later"
- To invite: add to a list of people who should be on the invitee-list

The invitee-list can be uploaded to LinkedIn.

The not-invite-list is kept, so the people in this list will not appear again in a later run.
People can be removed from the not-invite-list by pressing the button Edit non-invitees -> you get a listbox, select the name from the list and press Remove. By the next run of the tool the person will be available again.

Steps to use the tool:
1. Create directory, eg C:\linkedin. Unzip the tool in this directory. - This step is just once!
2. get the database: login to LIONS, go to the database-section in LION-group, select the database,
when you see the entries - scroll completely right - select "Export Table".
3. Save data (File Save As in your Browser) to database.txt
4. Export current contacts in LI to MS-Outlook-format into this directory
5. Start invite.bat (on WIN) or invite.tcl (on LINUX) - you may create a shortcut on your desktop
6. Browse for database database.txt - all other fields will be filled automatically
7. For every person make the decision not-to / to invite.
8. When the buttons turn to grey - press Done
9. Upload the file "to_invite.txt" into LinkedIn

Current invites cannot be handled as I don't know how to export them automatically, also not persons in the "Other Contacts".
I appreciate any help handling this problem.
